My experience with HR is that it is important they consider many points of view and push back against what Gerras in the article cited below calls the “absolutist” frame of reference and narrow point of view people who have been promoted sometimes develop from being given positive reinforcement.

Hello Professor and colleagues,
Why should organizations assess the competencies of individuals responsible for driving change initiatives? Explain.
Companies should assess the competencies of the individuals responsible for driving change because change is hard; and drivers of the change must be prepared for both the adverse and positive reactions that change brings. It is not just the negative implications that must be factored but also the positive effects as well.
If the individual of the change lacks stamina, fortitude, resilience, strategy, collaborative and communitive abilities then the change could be susceptible to outright failure. Just like the driver of the automobile must know how to operate the vehicle, must know or have understanding where they are driving to and how to get from where they are to where they want to be so does the driver of organizational change must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to direct, steer, negotiate, collaborate, coordinate and communicate effectively the pathway for that change.
And just like with the automobile, nativity can create havoc and cause accidents or unexpected outcomes that negatively impact the organization, its goals and its laborforce.
