Click on the category of your choice. You will be offered a vast variety of museums, artists, or locations, respectively. Review your options carefully, and choose one. The only restriction is that your choice must be directly relevant to the material you have studied in this course. Select an artist mentioned in your assigned reading, a location that Sayre identifies as pertaining to culture, continuity, and change, or a museum whose collection includes objects from the eras covered in your syllabus. Give yourself some time on this step; review and select carefully.
Then explore the museum, artist, or location of your choice thoroughly. You may well find that the trial leads on forever, so that you can’t track everything down. But spend at least an hour or two trying.
Write a report of 1000-1200 words about what you saw. Include:Explain how you decided on the major category
Explain how you chose the specific museum, artist, or location within your category
Describe the process and experience of exploring that specific topic
Identify your favorite artwork (including a building or specific spot, if you chose “Places”) among those you encountered in your exploration, and what made it your favoriteAdd a small photo of the artwork(s) you discuss (cite with the URL of the source)
