Benchmark – Career Readiness in PK-8 School SettingCareer readiness begins early in the academic life of students. It is important to expose students to a variety of opportunities early in school, so they are informed of career possibilities, and the academic requirements needed for the careers.
In 500-750 words, create a program proposal to present to school administration that would provide comprehensive career counseling to students in the PK-8 school setting and include the following:
Evaluate intervention strategies or approaches to increase each of the following: promotion, graduation rates, student achievement, and academic development.
Develop ethical and culturally relevant strategies to promote career readiness and the use of developmentally appropriate career counseling interventions and assessments.
Describe one assessment to prepare students for future careers (appropriate for elementary school children). Review the results and determine the relevance of the data. Explain if the data is culturally appropriate and unbiased.
Identify and describe two community resources/opportunities that would further support your students’ future career exploration.
Support your analysis with two to four scholarly resources.
Part 2:
Benchmark – Education and Career Action Plan (ECAP)Schools vary in the resources that are available to students, teachers, and school personnel for the creation of education and career action plans (ECAP). For this assignment, consider the different college and career resources that may be available to you as a school counselor. You are required to use presenter’s notes to fully develop the content of this presentation for your audience.
Create a 10-15-slide digital presentation for the entire freshmen class, and include the following:
How the ECAP (or another similar tool) will contribute to preparing students for graduation.
How the ECAP is used to assist students in determining individual career goals.
Technology that could be used to provide high-quality school counseling to students in career and lifestyle planning.
Strategies to promote college readiness and access, and facilitate post-secondary transitions that are ethical and culturally relevant.
Community resources and referral sources that promote post-secondary college and career transitions.
If you reside outside of Arizona, include information about your state’s post-high school action plan, and compare and contrast with the ECAP. This information should only be included in your presenter’s notes; a slide is not required.
The digital presentation should include presenter’s notes, title slide, and reference slides, and be supported by three to five scholarly resources. The digital presentation should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.
