Introduction

Psychotherapy refers to the counseling done by a psychotherapist to assist the patient in different problem-solving skills. It mainly focuses on the individual’s well-being. Group psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy where a group of patients is treated by one or more therapists. This is usually done in a group where interpersonal traits and behaviors are observed keenly. The therapist task in the here-and-now focuses on two major ties. Neither of these has power over the other. It gives the therapist and the group members to discuss risks happening at the moment. Issues are dealt with as they happen and the focus is based on emerging issues.

In the techniques of here and now, the therapist is forced to think about the emergent issues and approach them in the group as they occur. The different techniques are related to the group’s major role. Focus made on the outside issues is turned into the inside. Abstract issues are made specific and general principles made personal. From personal, they are now turned into interpersonal.

Process illumination is centered on the therapist’s tasks in the group. The therapist is required to study in detail the process and understand it so that he or she can use it well with the patients or group. He must understand the different happenings in the group and be able to explain them. In this way, the therapist will fully understand the Recognition process.

The recognition process encompasses the different dynamics of the group, their social aspects, communication behaviors, and their behaviors in the group as they interact. This assists a particular group to realize its dreams. A good understanding of the groups such as their tasks, their problem-solving skills, and their decision making can be learned as they relate in the group.

Helping patients assume a Process Orientation is aimed at making sure that different patients in the group get a good knowledge of the issues to be discussed in the group. This is done so that the patients are aware of different issues in the group. This orientation helps by making the members of the group participate and achieve a good understanding of the group processes.
