Introduction
One of the severe challenges that most countries face today is juvenile crimes. Juvenile crimes affect not only the person who commits the crime but also the social order in any country. Currently, the world is witnessing an increasing trend in juvenile delinquencies. Therefore, this paper seeks to support the arguments for treating juveniles as adults in the courtroom to solve the challenge.
Discussion
One of the benefits of treating adolescents as adults in court is that it discourages juveniles from committing serious crimes. Youth take advantage of the old court system and commit crimes, knowing they would not face serious consequences (Agarwal, 2018). Allowing this to continue in the justice system will not only interfere with the peaceful cooperation but also hinder the security of a nation (Agarwal, 2018). As a result, juveniles in court should be treated as adults. Furthermore, prosecuting juveniles as adults will provide justice to crime victims and their loved ones. They will be at ease knowing that the culprit who murdered their loved one is behind bars.
Conclusion
Just like a rod instills terror in a youngster, preventing them from making mistakes, juveniles who commit severe crimes should be prosecuted as adults in the legal system to prevent them from committing any crime. This will not only instill fear in them, but will also put pressure on parents to fulfill proper parenting tasks in order to keep their children from engaging in criminal activities. As a result, serious adolescent crimes will be drastically reduced.
