Introduction
‘Stop time’ is an unforgettable time that is considered as a person’s beginning of comprehending certain personal issues in life. Some particular issues in a person’s life only make logic through interventions of a resourceful person.
The realization and interpretation of such memories enable a person to understand certain rationalities in life. This state of affairs is perceived as a natural way of learning by memorizing events. Memories tend to equip individuals with a natural intellectual capacity; hence, individuals tend to refer to them when in need of teaching others by revisiting their memories.
Personal Stop Time Experience
Barry was regarded as witty, cheeky, and the most outgoing social student by the majority of his peers in college. Often many people recognized him as a less serious student since they perceived everything that he talked about as a mere joke. This situation made him a popular character because he never missed entertainment gigs. Barry never ceased to impress others with his stunts, comments, and pranks of some kind. He was the all-time favorite to the fun-loving students in college.
On the contrary, I was a no-nonsense fellow who joined college to attain good grades. Therefore, I created and spent most of the time studying. Having grown in a religious and principled background, I never wanted to disappoint my family at all costs. As a result, I chose fellow like-minded individuals who assumed similar life ideologies.
We formed a geeky crew of individuals who isolated themselves from social extroverts. This group was noticeable by the virtue of our dressing modes and conservativeness. Nobody ever thought that we belonged to the twenty-first-century generation. Absurdly, classical jazz and Christian soft rock comprised our favorite music genres, which many students considered as ‘tasteless’ music that should have been scrapped from the modern entertainment industry.
Nonetheless, everything seemed new at the beginning. Making new friends and building social cohesions comprised the timetable of the day. Amazingly, during a Physics lesson, the lecturer randomly asked us to join various study groups that he had established. The lecturer’s aim was to enable us to complete a Physics assignment and draw respective reports on the various topics that we had discussed.
Definitely, this time was appropriate to show off my prowess in the articulation of the subject. I knew that it was my sole responsibility. However, the aid of the other members of the group was equally important to spearhead such an assignment within the short duration that we had been in the college. Astonishingly, Barry belonged to my group. Nonetheless, his character did not deter me from producing my best to the joint task.
The first session was just a mere introduction that was followed by a brief description of the importance of Einstein’s theories and their practicality in modern day technology. Every individual had a chance to contribute until my turn came. With my chest thumping, I expounded thoroughly on the topic to show off my intellectual capacity.
However, I did not realize the extent of my reactions. I was too proud to notice that I was portraying a boosting attitude to my fellow colleagues. As I passionately expounded on the topic, almost everybody applauded my efforts and they seemed impressed with my articulation of the topic. This situation made me feel a sense of greatness that was a major boost to my self-centric ego (Conroy, 127).
Meanwhile, Barry was yet to contribute his points. He felt intimidated the presentation that I had just made before the class. He started his explanation with a startle. Everyone perceived Barry as a joker. Consequently, laughter emerged from the background. I did not avoid the laughter bearing in mind the full of praises that I had received from the other members.
Although the situation made it hard for him to continue with his presentation, he amazingly singled out his arguments in a professional manner. Indeed, he presented more detailed and straightforward explanations than the rest of us. His presentation was as if Einstein’s spirit expressed through the body of Barry. Everybody paid attention to his explanations to the extent that some students jotted down a few notes.
After several minutes after the presentation, Barry looked straight into my eyes with his clear blue eyes pierced through me, as if he was watching my soul. With a griming face, he said, “Some of you tend to judge others for nonspecific reasons. I think Jesus has been on serious recruitment of employees this season!” I had never experienced such a heart melt before. Was God speaking through Barry, the joker and prankster everybody knew? Nonetheless, as if he said nothing, he resumed to the normal that every person knew.
Conclusion
Outlandishly, my misconception towards Barry made me judge his actions wrongly. Indeed, he proved to be a very smart and intellectual character. This event was a significant stop time in life that taught me together with my geeky crew an important lesson. Many people develop wrong perceptions of the actions of others. Nobody is perfect, and by perfecting oneself is as good as being the god of some sort.
This stop time made me believe that people have equal potential to accomplish both intellectual and physical events in life. Consequently, people require self-understanding to comprehend the intellectualities of others.
