The learning paths that we embark on play a fundamental role in shaping how we view the world and the paradigms that we chose to live by. These constructs become rooted in our minds and govern our interpretations of life and everyday situations. Biblical education is different from other fields in that it shapes our understanding of the world through a spiritual prism. By applying the knowledge of God’s word, we are not only able to shift our perceptions when confronted with new circumstances but act righteously in the face of unprecedented challenges. The Bible teaches us unity, peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation as opposed to aggression and conflict. In turn, we become equipped with the qualities that enable us to become fearless leaders, find genuine justice, and spread the mission of God.
Theology is a multifaceted and rewarding discipline that brings with it increased awareness of human beings’ sinful nature. It presents us with the opportunity to analyze our lives and construe the behavior of others more compassionately. When we practice such theological virtues as hope, love, and faith we improve the quality of our lives and obtain harmony and peace.
Another significant aspect of college life is the social environment. When a student is surrounded by like-minded individuals that share the same belief systems and have proper values, this allows them to stay focused on schoolwork and excel. I believe that I will feel at home at the HGCD Bible College and Seminary especially due to the welcoming and inclusive culture. Being a part of the Christian community will help me build visions that will shape my true identity. Additionally, the high academic standards and a variety of education options make the college particularly appealing.
Lastly, only in the Bible school is it possible to understand the very essence of existence through the word of God. As the Bible verse states, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (New International Version, n.d., James 1:5). With this invaluable awareness, we can cultivate a meaningful life and fulfill our God-given purpose.
