Notes

The crime occurred around 9:00 PM on March 11th, 2021, was discovered and examined approximately at 9:30 PM on the same day. As presented in the pictures, the objects found are a large red-colored ashtray in the shape of a fire hydrant, containing pieces of used cigarettes and ash, a small matchbox with unused matches but without the cover, an ashtray lid with two burnt matches in it. In addition, burnt pieces of paper were discovered inside the tray. In the proximity, a box of matches of the same type as the burnt ones was found, together with torn pieces of paper, supposedly prepared for burning.

It is noteworthy that the objects were discovered in the bathroom, with the air system turned on and the window widely open. The evidence was left on the surface of the washing machine, one of the only empty and flat surfaces available. The air surrounding the crime scene smelled of burned wood and paper. All of the situational factors discovered strongly suggest that specific items, namely important papers, were burnt at the crime scene using the matches and the ashtray to hide the remaining evidence.
