“The Parable of the Prodigal Son” is a story of a family and the importance of support and forgiveness. In Holy Bible, there are many cases that teach justice and fair relationships. Another Christian allegory of human interactions and help is in “The Parable of the Good Samaritan.” Although these examples have different characters and attitudes toward conscience, they strengthen the reader’s understanding of mercy through similar environments and situations.
In both parables, the road is the major setting that plays an important role. The son goes away with the part of his father’s property and achieves salvation from his greed and shortsightedness as a sin “against heaven” and his father (Holy Bible, Luke 15, 18). A good Samaritan assists the man attacked by robbers on the road that reveals the quality of a human soul (Holy Bible, Luke 10, 30). The road is not only a way with a direction but a place where critical decisions are made.
Compared to the son’s story, who puts himself in danger and suffering, the story of the Samaritan proves the possibility of external threats. These parables teach that all people should listen to the voice of their conscience and learn how to inherit eternal life. It is not always easy to stay conscientious and wise, and Jesus shows how to make the right decision and never be challenged by personal fears or recklessness.
Finally, the worth of any Christian allegory is a chance to employ reason and see how to make a moral choice. The sons demonstrate different treatments toward their father and their family riches. The strangers on the road display how the same condition provokes different decisions. In both cases, positive outcomes are achieved, proving that there is always something good inside, and people need faith to stay reasonable and just.
Biblical stories bring a variety of thoughts and lessons to modern life. Some readers can recognize the message, and some individuals never notice the significance of the reading. The chosen parables contain different stories and characters, but they have one thing in common. They expose a perfect representation of human virtues that makes it possible to listen to the voice of conscience and behave morally right.
