Besides advocating for their followers, nurse leaders are also responsible for promoting their workplace vision and being available to their employees. A substantial amount of nurse leadership strives for the integration and development of patient care, formulation and assessment of treatment plans, and leading by example for the newer nursing staff (The University of New Mexico, 2018). Firstly, some of these include the discovery that pharmacist-led medication therapy results in a substantial reduction in the total cost of care. Secondly, improved sepsis care has been noted to optimize early recognition (Health Catalyst, 2019). Third, a systematic, data-driven approach to evaluations has resulted in a lower length of stay and better care coordination. These are just three examples of the many changes nursing and other hospital staff can implement over long-term assessments of the current quality of care.
