In the film “A Time to Kill,” my opinion is that Carl Lee Hailey was right to have murdered rapists who assaulted his daughter. This is because of anger and the weight of the two white men’s injustice to his daughter. Therefore, he was justified in murdering the men in cold blood because he was so pained (Baynes, 1996). In a society characterized by injustice towards the black population in the Southern town, he was sure that the perpetrators would be accessible in the long run, prompting him to kill them to relieve himself of the pain.
Jake Brigance, a lawyer, is Carl Lee Hailey’s friend in this film. The friendship originates from a point in time when Jake Brigance defended Lester Hailey in court, therefore, creating a company with the Hailey family. The fallacies in Jake Brigance’s case are found where the lawyer allowed Carl Lee to murder the two rapists (Baynes, 1996). He was fully aware Carl had an intention of murdering the two men, but he never stopped it from happening.
