In my career aptitude test my results had some jobs in the medical healthcare field. The jobs were mainly jobs that work with the health of animals. For example, i received jobs like veterinarian assistant, and veterinarian. I don’t believe my skills would be shown to the fullest extend working with animals because I have very good social skills that would help me care for others. I believe I would excel in the career field of nursing.

I am interested in becoming a nurse because in 2012 my dad was in a motorcycle accident so i went to the hospital a lot to visit him. While going to the hospital I found interest in the work the nurses were doing. Another reason I find interest in nursing is because my mom attempted to become a nurse but she was unable to get her nursing degree because she had missed an important test because my dad was in the hospital. This caused her to have to change majors and get a degree in accounting. Another reason i want to become a nurse is last year my mom was in the hospital because of her kidneys and i was very interested as to what the nurses were doing.

The primary responsibility of being a registered nurse is taking care of patients, but specific job responsibilities vary depending on your nursing specialization. The average salary of a registered nurse is $50.4k-$85k per year. There are many different types of registered nurses. I personally plan to become a travel nurse after having a few years of experience at John Hopkins Hospital. A travel nurse is a nurse who moves around different hospital. Mainly focusing on helping hospitals with nurse shortages. The average salary for a travel nurse is $100k per year which equates to $20-$40 per hour. There are currently 3,059,800 nursing jobs. And it is predicted that in the next ten years there will be a 12% increase meaning there will be an increase of 371,500 jobs.

The college I plan to go to is Prince George’s Community College. I plan to go to this college because my mom went there while pursuing her career in nursing. The estimated cost for me to attend that specific college would be $8,770. This is with all estimated cost for tuition, fees, room and boarding charges, books, supplies, and other expenses. The cost of tuition and fees is $3,770.

In conclusion, after doing extensive research about a career in nursing I still am very interested in becoming a nurse. I have learned a lot more about the job responsibilities of a nurse which has made me even more eager to become a nurse. I have found that I would like to be a travel nurse. Also, I have found that I would like to start my experience in nursing at John Hopkins Hospital. I’m looking forward to learning more in the future about a career in nursing.
