Introduction

In modern times Ethical Leadership is becoming one of the very important aspects of a company. The managers provide a very important angle in this aspect of the moral framework of a company and shaping the collective character of the organization. Organizational characteristics are defined by ethical leadership. The behaviors that can wrongly advertise the organization can surely be omitted by the virtue of ethical leadership. There are two types of tensions that generally flow in an organization, the first is the pursuit for the profit and the second is the pursuit for the work that the employees enjoy to do. And these two aspects always have a conflict among them. The pride in accomplishing a job, of the satisfaction of doing a job properly, sometimes clashes with the other aspect. And sometimes while chasing the external goods managers forsake the internal goods of the organization.

Background

The virtue or vice of any organization mainly depends on the role of the managers and how they balance between the two aspects mentioned before. The influential leadership of the managers can be in two ways, and the ways are “personal actions” and “interpersonal relationships” (Neubert et al, pp. 157–170). Some theories like Social Learning Theory, Attachment Theory and Virtue Theory (Neubert et al, pp. 157–170) describes how managers can change to role models and do well for the enterprise.

Social Learning Theory

The Theory suggests that individuals are really influenced by role models. They are attracted to the achievements and how they achieved that, or in some cases some failures and want to adopt it in their lives to make it better. Managers can be role models as their works and positions can be visible to the employees, So they can surely influence the employees with their accomplishments and it will inspire them to work hard for both their personal gain and the collective gain of the company.

Attachment Theory

It suggests that the role models can yield personal power between all the other members. They basically made emotional bonds between two people. The relation of a manager and a person working directly under him can be an example of this kind of relation. Actually it happens in the case where one person meets the needs of the other person for both safety and security and is one of the very most important parts of ethical behavior.

Virtue Theory

The behavior and the personal attributes of the managers are very important in the aspect of ethical leadership. They can be role models of virtue for their own conduct. Consistent in their work, love towards the company, and faithful to his work are some very important aspects of the overall development of the company.

Discussion

Actually in general, the ethical behavior in any organization mainly depends on the performance of the managers. Their ethical leadership behavior along with relational attachments can really contribute to the ethical climate of an organization. The ethical climate of the organization, the interactional justice, commitment towards the organization and the job satisfaction all these attribute to the involvement of the employees.

Conclusion

Ethical leadership behavior is mainly centered on the performance of the individuals in an organization. But still the social scientific approaches towards ethics and leadership have not been properly developed. Later the researchers do need to work on the aspects which only help the development of the organizations in a collective way.
